ITINERAIRES THERAPEUTIQUES D’UN MALADE DECEDE DU SIDA A ABIDJAN (CÔTE D’IVOIRE)

Abstract

This text relates to the therapeutic itineraries of a patient deceased of the AIDS to Abidjan. It tries to determine logics subjacent with the behaviors of search for care of the patient. It arises from the analyses that the therapeutic choices of the patient were guided by the supposed cause of the disease as perceived by the patient himself. Thus, according to whether he thinks its disease like a benign pathology, he self-treats or called upon healer or peripheral structures deprived of adequate technical plate. But when he perceives its evil as the effect of an attack in sorcery, he privileges the care of the divine-healer, but also the prayers of divine cure. The belief in this imputative causality is used to him as argument to refuse any idea of the test of tracking of the AIDS and any recourse to the powerful structures of care, in spite of the insistence of the one of the doctors having discovered his seropositivity after him to have made the test without its knowledge. But the refusal of the patient to make the test of tracking and to resort to the powerful structures of modern care is explained inter alia by the fear of being discovered victim of a venereal disease in occurrence the AIDS, synonymous with stigmatization and social exclusion, in a context where the serologic confidentiality of the statute and the catch in social contribution and psychological of the patients remain a concern unsolved in Africa.
