Abstract

We examine in this paper the possible link between sport and government spending growth. In this article, we use time series to estimate using models Vectorial Correction 'of Error (VECM) by one-step approach of Johansen, the functional relationship between public budget expenditure allocated to sport and growth Côte d'Ivoire during the period 1990 – 2010. The estimation results show that in the short and long term public sports expenditures do not have overall impact on economic activity expressed by real GDP. Public sports expenditures thus appear as a consequence or an endogenous factor in the growth process in Côte d'Ivoire.
